A state school run by the Junta de Andalucía, in Benahavís (Málaga), with pupils of many nationalities.

Welcome letter from the headteacher

This is our translation of the letter the school published in Spanish.

Welcome to Colegio Daidín!

Dear families,

On behalf of the whole school community of CEIP Daidín, it is a pleasure to welcome you to our school. We are proud of a school environment that not only encourages learning and personal growth but also celebrates diversity and the way different nationalities live together. We firmly believe this cultural richness enriches our pupils’ education and strengthens the values of respect, tolerance and cooperation.

Our school, set in a privileged location, offers a place to learn in contact with nature, which supports the all-round development of our pupils.

At CEIP Daidín we work every day to offer a quality education based on knowledge, motivation and human values. All of this is possible thanks to the shared involvement and effort of our teaching team, the families and the pupils, as well as the collaboration of the Parents’ Association (AMPA).

Thanks to the support of Benahavís Town Council, we can run a wide range of educational and extracurricular activities that complement our teaching and help to form responsible, creative citizens who are committed to their surroundings.

Through this website, we invite you to get to know our school better and to take an active part in our school community. We are open to your suggestions and contributions, which will undoubtedly help us to improve and to keep moving forward together.

We hope that your experience at CEIP Daidín is enriching and satisfying. Thank you for the trust you have placed in us to be part of your children’s education.

Kind regards.

David Manso Sancho, headteacher

School language project

A plan shared by all the teachers to improve how children read, write and speak, in every subject.

Many nationalities live side by side at the school, and some pupils are learning Spanish at the same time as everything else. So the teaching staff treat language as everyone’s job, not just the Spanish lesson. Since the 2023/24 school year a Language Committee (COLIN) has driven the project.

What they work on

  • Daily reading of varied texts in every subject.
  • Reading comprehension strategies: main ideas, summaries, inferences.
  • Writing with a method: planning, drafting, revising and correcting.
  • A school writing diary, and spelling taught in context.

Who drives it

  • A member of the management team, the school library coordinator and the language-support teacher (ATAL).
  • An infant tutor and primary teachers from the three cycles.
  • It is reviewed every year. Families of pupils who receive language support have two meetings a year: one at the start and one follow-up.

The full detail is in section 3.2 of the Educational Project (in Spanish).
